I realize I haven't posted in about a month... busy busy busy.
Goob and I celebrated 9 years of marriage on the 14th and for the first time, since we started having children really, we went on a date. Of course Caleb was in tow because he goes everywhere I go. But a date. NO sharing our food with a child sitting on either side. No potty breaks just as our food came to the table. NO arguing or referring the many fights that occur between Brac and Zoe. It was so nice to talk about "stuff". I think married couples need that alone time. It's good for them. It was fab for us.
We drove into Cincinnati and ate at Joe's Crab Shack... one of our favorite restaurants and this particular one overlooks the Ohio River... beautiful scenery. I have to say that I am more in love with this man today than I ever thought possible 9 years ago.
We have been through Valleys and climbed the highest mountains and neither of us is even 30 yet. We have watched our child battle cancer. We have (sort of) remodeled a house. We have had 4 dogs, 2 pigs, a bushel of chickens, and a turtle (all of which are gone now). Together we have had 3 of the most beautiful children in the world. We have had about 6 or 7 cars. We have prayed together every night for 3,291 days. We have been to Disney world 2 times. And we have said "I love you" more times than I could ever count.
Also wanted to say Happy Birthday to my wonderful Mother in Law.... Mom! The big 5-0!!! She shares a birthday with our Anniversary. She does everything with class and I am sure that she celebrated 50 with a bang. :)
We love you Nana/Mom!
Now let me back up a smidge to the 9th.... I AM AN AUNTIE (again)... My little sister, my only sister welcomed a sweet little boy into the world. Holden Liam. I CAN NOT wait to get my hands on him. It was so hard to be away from her during the delivery. But she went before I wanted her too and I am blaming it on her. Being 10 hours away does not make it easy.... BUT I am going home this coming week and that is sure to be a spoiled baby when I get finished with him. {that's what Aunt's are for} I am so proud of her. She did the entire labor and delivery med free. GOOOOO Ginny :)
On the 17th we celebrated Father's Day!!
He is an amazing father. I thank God everyday that my children have a wonderful father. Some days it's as though I am living a surreal life. I always imagined what a "normal" family was like as a kid and now I know. Of course our normal may be a little different than the average person but it is OUR normal.
On the 18th Brac had Chemo and a spinal tap. He did phenomenal as usual. We even talked to his oncologist about his last days of chemo.... we are so close we can taste it. He has 2 more spinal taps to go and 5 more clinic visits. Christmas is going to have a whole different meaning this year. He has been such a trooper from the very beginning. He is getting a BIG gift for Christmas this year. :)
It has been hot and dry in Indiana so we have been spending the days in the water or at this awesome new splash park in town. Love the tan lines on my kids... shows they are having a great summer.
Today I am just chilaxing with my favorite kids. Enjoying the small moments. Brac is post chemo so he's a little whiney and the steroids make him super moody, and Zoe is battling a nasty head cold and an ear infection. My Caleb.... he's absolutely perfect. Love life being a mama.
Happy Summer Y'all.
PS... let me just say to Courtney over at the Type B Mom... I have been working out. Getting up at (gulp) 6am every morning and going to the gym. I still have some progress to make. But just getting up and going says a lot for me because I AM NOT a morning person. Hope you are doing well.
